Thanks for the great music Saturday and Sunday at Art in the Park.
I am taken by the soul in your sound/talent/exposition, as is everyone who hears you, so this is a fan letter, but with a request.
I’ll start with your sax. The sound that moves out of your horn is – if you will excuse the use of a very over used word- healing. It’s almost as if the vibrations swim through my cells giving them a tune up. Space becomes much softer and more loving. Whether it can be captured digitally this you know. There is a lot of vibrational music now on the market, most of it electronic and based on theory and head trips. What you are doing is soul medicine. The frontier for which everyone is searching is readily found in your music.
Here is what I want: a 60min CD ( mas or minus), your own musical therapy hour, which grabs the lethargic and overstressed, awakening them to spontaneous movement, and joy. Sunday I watched a person dancing of to the side with freedom of form, which is wonderful, but not the aim of this project. I envision a person (group of people) in a quite or meditative state first hearing the spontaneous tickle of the sax then flowing into the range of beats and sounds, of which you are the master, to stimulate the cellular vibrational kick that leads to real, honest, amazing mind/body clarity and joy. This all sounds “very Ojai” when put down on paper but you have the gift, people have the need and, as long as you are already doing this in many forms already, why not consider this one?
Know that you are very busy so, if you can let is stew for awhile, you might think it an interesting project and contact me.
Thanks for your time and, always, thanks for your music.

Jimmie, you don’t know me but i’m Tommy Calandra’s nephew. My mother Josephine was Tommy’s sister. I was at your show on june 24th at the tralf in buffalo. I am still shaking from that amazing performance. I had no idea of the brillant talent behind the band. I only hope that Raven will come back here real soon and play even a bigger venue like shea’s or kleinhans. I have so many story’s going up about raven. I’m 53 now, but I can remember you guys getting ready to play at kleinhans and my mother took me to Gary’s house on the westside who was rooming with Tommy at the time. The two were arguing about who’s shoes they had on. I wish I could have talked to you guys a little after the show but it was quite crowded. My son Rocco is getting ready to open his recording studio here. Here majored in sound recording engineering in college, so this is his big dream. His band just won the best of buffalo’s new original music out of 100 bands over 6 months. I wish we all could meet someday. I too love music. I took piano for 5 years, but my real passion is the sax, so 7 month’s ago I started taking lessons and there is no turning back now. Even more now after seeing you on stage that night, I am more inspired to go after my dream and passion to play the sax. I will be following the band and look forward to seeing you guys live again. By the way I love you solo career and the music you create. Sincerely, Mark Dellaneve Hamburg, New York
